Houseplants are very common. They serve to decorate the home, add coziness and connect with nature.
Here are some of the most common houseplants:
This is Ficus Benjamin. Ficus is a heat-loving and light-loving plant. The pots are placed near the window. Ficus Benjamin has colourful leaves. Propagated by twigs called cuttings.
The date palm is a houseplant suitable for planting in wooden boxes. Although in Bulgaria it is a houseplant, in the desert areas of North Africa it reaches a height of a seven-story building. Its stem is grassy and soft. It grows slowly and in the first years forms only a few leaves. It blooms regularly with lush golden-yellow inflorescences. It begins to bear fruit in the sixth year.
Orchid
These decorative flowers are a special group. They are famous as capricious and difficult to grow plants, but with a little more diligence on the part of lovers can decorate any home. Preferably in plastic pots. These plants need a lot of light and moisture. What is special about orchids is that the light must reach the roots, as photosynthesis takes place in them.
Aloe
Aloe has 340 species. It is distributed in the tropical region of Africa, Madagascar. This is the most common medicinal plant. His homeland is Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. In room conditions, in temperate climates, it rarely blooms and that is why it is called a centenarian. With good care it can bloom every year. The leaves are narrow and juicy – they are the ones usually used for medicine.
Caring for houseplants
We need to meet the basic needs of the plant for light, water, nutrients and heat. They are easy to grow. Light is very important – if the plant is weak and stretched, it means that it lacks light. Water is also very important – enough, but not too much, so as not to drown the plant. Regular fertilization (addition of artificial nutrients) has a great effect, as the nutrients in the soil in the pot can be depleted. The temperature – if it is suitable for us, it is probably suitable for plants as well.
Where to put the plant
It is important that the place is where the plant will grow healthy and well. There may be places where it looks beautiful, but this is unfavourable if the temperature and light there are not enough. It is good to clean the leaves of the plant with a soft damp cloth to remove dirt on them.
